Real Classic

Dec 01 2025
Magazine

RealClassic magazine features the very best British motorcycles from all eras, plus charismatic Continental machines (and the odd Japanese classics crops up occasionally, too). Long term classic riders will recognise many of the members of the RC team, which includes authors, historians and journalists like Steve Wilson, Dave Minton, Matt Vale, Odgie, Jacqueline 'PUB' Bickerstaff, Rowena Hoseason and editor Frank Westworth -- but the magazine's key feature is that it is firmly grounded in the real world. Our articles are written by real life riders and reflect far more than a simple road test ever can. We're never scared of getting grubby in The Shed (and we even admit it when things go horribly wrong!)

DON RICKMAN SPEAKS

Super STROKER • Back in 1968, Suzuki got ludicrously excited about their ‘revolutionary dual-stroke' motorcycle. What does Paul Henshaw make of it today?

TRY, TRY AGAIN • If at first you don't succeed (and your mechanical marvel creates mechanical mayhem), then simply bin the bad idea and build a much better motorbike. Rowena Hoseason discovers how Excelsior did just that

Déjà Vu! • As time passes, so our views of particular motorcycles may change - or do they? Frank Westworth shares a small personal surprise…

Competition TIME • The Real Reader might recall Odgie recently regaling them with romping tales of his Yamaha XT200. Notwithstanding the excess of alliteration, how would it fare in competition? Odgie found out…

Super SINGLE • Sometimes, bigger ain't always better. John Walton loved Enfield's original 411cc off-roader. What does he think of its slightly bigger successor?

CHRISTMAS CRACKERS!

Imperial IMPERFECTIONS • Last month, David Moore started his first vintage rebuild with a 1932 Unit Minor. Now he discovers that he doesn't know what he doesn't know…

PUB • Trying out a Speed 400, and fitting an electronic ignition to a wartime G3L. PUB's been busy…

TALES FROM • The bench resident may be a Triumph, but there's little triumphant about it so far. Frank's been sharpening his spanners and hammers…

LETTER FROM AMERICA • This Enfield Interceptor was chipped out of icy incarceration some fifty years ago. It then had to wait another quarter-century to return to the road…
