      When Americans think of Gaza, if they do, it is generally of a bomb-riddled, dysfunctional hellhole declared "unlivable" by the UN. Yet as Abusalim observes, "What is missing is a meaningful conversation about Gaza, led by Palestinian voices . . . The result is an obscured understanding of the Palestinian experience in Gaza, one that overlooks the rich, diverse, and sophisticated experiences of Palestinians who live there." This anthology is that conversation, featuring Gazans affirming "a Palestinian identity that is deeply rooted in the land . . .
